Lost Your Condo Access Card in Singapore? Here's What to Do
Losing your condo access card is more common than you'd think — and it's stressful. You're locked out of the carpark, the gym, the lobby, maybe even your own floor. Here's a clear, step-by-step guide on exactly what to do, and the fastest way to get back to normal.
Step 1 — Don't Panic. Check These Places First
Before doing anything else, do a quick check. Most "lost" cards turn up in one of these spots:
- Between sofa cushions or in a bag you haven't used recently
- In a jacket or pants pocket from a few days ago
- On your desk or bedside table under other items
- In your car — glove compartment, door pocket, or under the seat
- At your workplace — left behind at the security desk or in your locker
If it's genuinely gone, move on to Step 2.
Step 2 — Should You Report It to Condo Management?
This depends on how your condo's access system works and whether security is a concern for you.
When you should report it:
- If you suspect the card was stolen (not just misplaced)
- If your condo uses a card-deactivation system and you want the lost card blocked
- If your condo by-laws require you to report lost cards
When it may not be necessary:
- If the card was misplaced at home and you're confident it won't be found by someone else
- If your condo uses basic EM or Mifare cards without a central deactivation system
⚠️ Check your condo's by-laws. Some condominiums require residents to report lost cards within a certain timeframe. Your condo management office or residents' handbook will have this information.
Step 3 — Know Your Options for Getting a Replacement
You have two main options: go through your condo management office, or get a duplicate made independently. Here's how they compare.
| Option | Cost | Time | Convenience |
|---|---|---|---|
| Condo management office | $50–$150+ | 1–7 days | Office hours only, may need written request |
| CopyCard duplicate | From $15 | 10–20 mins | Walk in anytime, 7 days, or onsite booking |
💡 Important: If you report the lost card to management and they deactivate it, any duplicate made from the original card will also stop working. Get your duplicate made before reporting if you want to use the duplicate as your replacement.
Step 4 — Get a Duplicate Made (The Fast Way)
If you still have your original card — or a spare — the fastest solution is to get a duplicate made. CopyCard duplicates all common condo access card types in Singapore from $15, and most cards are ready in under 20 minutes.
How it works:
- WhatsApp us a photo of your card — we'll confirm the type and price instantly
- Walk in to our Yio Chu Kang or Bedok outlet (no appointment needed)
- We duplicate your card in 10–20 minutes
- Walk out with a working copy — tested before you leave
Can't make it to our outlet? We offer island-wide onsite duplication for an additional $40 — we'll come to your condo.
What Type of Card Does Your Condo Use?
Most Singapore condominiums use one of three card types:
- EM4100 / HID Proximity — older condos built before 2015. Duplicate from $10.
- Mifare Classic — most condos built from 2010 onwards. Duplicate from $15.
- Mifare DESFire / Ultralight — newer premium condos. Duplicate from $35.
Not sure which type your condo uses? Visit our Access Card Types Guide or WhatsApp us a photo — we'll identify it for free.

If the original card is gone and you have no spare, you'll need to get a new card issued by your condo management office. There's no way to duplicate a card without the original to read from.
Once you have the new card from management, we recommend getting a duplicate made straight away — so you always have a backup. Most residents only think about this after they've been through the stress of losing a card once.
Pro Tip: Always Have a Spare
The cheapest and most practical insurance against losing your condo access card is to have a duplicate made before you need it. A spare card costs from $15 and takes 20 minutes. Compare that to a week without full access and a $100+ replacement fee from management.
Keep the spare at home in a fixed spot — a kitchen drawer, a key hook, or your desk — so you always know where it is.
