How to Identify Your Card Type

Most people don't know what access card they have — and that's completely normal. Here are 3 ways to find out.

👀

1. Look at the card

Flip your card over and check for any text, logos, or numbers. HID cards often show the HID logo. Mifare cards may show "MIFARE" or "13.56MHz". Most older cards have no markings at all.

2. Try your phone's NFC

Open your phone's NFC reader app and tap your card. If your phone detects it, it's a 13.56MHz card (Mifare or HID iClass). If nothing happens, it's likely a 125kHz card (EM or HID Prox).
